COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST (part-time contract position, temporary)
Position Description
The Community Engagement Specialists are responsible for canvassing neighborhoods in Cincinnati (West End, Camp Washington, CUF) and Covington affected by the Brent Spence Corridor Expansion (BSB project). Responsibilities include: sharing information about the BSB project and engaging with residents about alternative designs; assisting with promoting community engagement sessions, community/city council presentations; tracking responses using the ArcGIS Survey123 platform; engaging residents through phone banking about upcoming events; training volunteer canvassers.
Responsibilities
Door-knocking in targeted areas to listen to community concerns with the BSB project and present alternative designs
Work with CTSD staff to refine the community engagement process based on residents’ responses.
Participating in events as a support staff or to share information on the canvassing program
Provide updates and feedback to canvass coordinator to refine process
Training volunteer canvassers
Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED (some college preferred)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Desire and ability to work with a diverse group of people
Ability to work a flexible schedule (some nights and weekends may be required) and to work outside
Must have physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods outdoors in hot and cold weather, meeting and talking to people
Ability to walk or roll moderate distances on city sidewalks
A functional smartphone with data connection
Ability to transport themselves to and from canvassing locations across Cincinnati and Covington, KY
Ability to work 8 - 20 hours per week.
Pay
Canvasser positions are paid $27.50/hour as a 1099 contractor with paid breaks and flexible scheduling. Transit fare reimbursement.
